About High Country Angler

Hello, my name is Evan Dowdy, and I am the owner of High Country Angler Fly Fishing Guide Service. I was born and grew up in Charlotte, NC. I have been fly fishing for twenty-two years, nine of those as a guide.

I honed my skills in the Appalachian and Blue Ridge Mountain trout streams in NC and progressed to the tailwaters of the Watauga and South Holston in TN. When I am not on guide trips or doing fly fishing lessons I am on the water myself trying to catch that fish of a lifetime.

In my endeavor to find a way to combine work with my love for fly fishing, I started my business High Country Angler. We provide a helpful guide service with exceptional prices as well as the finer elements. Whether you are a beginner who needs to understand basic entomology, casting or even help identifying the fish you catch, we are here to help you during your fishing trip. Our goal is to make your trip one to remember. We want to make our clients so satisfied, they will come back year after year. We are hitting that mark. One of the best parts of being a fishing guide is teaching. Being able to help others learn the sport is extremely satisfying.
