Insect Hatches Fly Fishing The hatches you find on most of the tail waters in Tennessee are some of the biggest hatches you will see in the south. Catching the trout will definitely require a "Match-The-Hatch" philosophy. Most of the wild trout waters we fish in North Carolina don't have such prolific hatches. They are more sporadic and sparse compared to tail water fisheries. We will help you by bringing the correct flies and show you some tips about matching the hatch. Fly Tying

You will learn about aquatic entomology (Pronounced:en-ta-'mä-la-jE the study of insects). There are several groups and stages of each fly. We will show our fly, and the actual fly we are trying to imitate. Most of them will be flying in your face if there is a hatch going on, so they are easy to catch. Below is a hatch chart to help guide you with the correct bug to try and match the hatches that happen in North Carolina and Tennessee.
