High Country Angler is a professional and licensed fly fishing guide service. We provide some of the best trout fishing trips in Western North Carolina, Tennessee, and some of the best Smallmouth bass fishing in North Carolina and Virginia. Take a fly fishing adventure with High Country Angler.
 

FLOAT TRIPS:

Our fly fishing float trips are all taken in the comfort of a Hyde Drift Boat. The trout fishing guide trips are done on the tail waters of the Watauga River, South Holston River and Holston River in Tennessee. If you are looking for gift ideas we also offer gift certificates for all our trips. We provide all the equipment and food for the day; however, there will be extras you need to bring. We offer several float trips:

  • 1 person full day float trips...............................$300.00

  • 1 person half day float trips..............................$250.00

  • 2 person full day float trips...............................$375.00

  • 2 person half day float trips..............................$300.00

  • Group & corporate float trips.............................$call for pricing

  • Deposit fee per boat........................................$75.00

  • Gift Certificate................................................$250.00-$375.00

WADE TRIPS:

Our wade trips are done on the South Holston or Watauga Rivers. There is also the option to wade smaller streams.  You can pick between stocked trout streams or native wild trout streams. The secluded backwoods do require a hike, so if you choose to fish for native wild trout, plan accordingly. We provide all the fly fishing equipment and food for the day; however, there will be fly fishing extras you need to bring. If you are looking for gift ideas we also offer gift certificates for all our trips. We offer wade trips as follows:

  • 1 person full day wade trip................................$275.00

  • 1 person half day wade trip...............................$225.00

  • 2 person full day wade trip................................$350.00

  • 2 person half day wade trip...............................$275.00

EQUIPMENT:

High Country Angler Fly Fishing Guide Service, provides the equipment for your fly fishing trips, but there maybe some items you wish to bring. Here is a list of things you will recieve with your fly fishing Guide trips.

Equipment to bring:

  • Fishing License (buy on-line) North Carolina License & Tennessee License. Some areas will allow a Reciprocal Licenses.

  • Jacket, rain jacket, and extra shirt or sweatshirt

  • Earth-tone clothing and hat (long sleeves are best on sunny days)

  • Medicine or dietary needs

Equipment we provide:

MEALS & TIMES:

The following is provided on your trip:

     

  • Lunch is provided for full day trips.  Deli sandwiches or fried chicken with plenty of great sides including salmon dip and desert.

  • If you have any dietary needs, please notify us in advance.

  • Half day trips include snacks and drinks.

 

TIMES & RENDEZVOUS POINT: We like to be on the water fishing no later than 10:00 AM but usually it is earlier. We can set a rendezvous point that is convenient to you and close to the area we will be fishing. Keep in mind, we will accommodate your needs. We are off the waters by 5:00 PM on most trips.

GRATUITY & LODGING:

Gratuity is usually given to let your guide know that he has performed well for the day

CLASSES:

We offer classes for fly tying and casting and we can accommodate 1 person to 20+ people. We can come on site to teach the hands on class. Let us know whatever your needs are and we can accommodate you. If you are looking for gift ideas we also offer gift certificates for all our classes.
